Country Overview
Albania is the Balkan coast most people haven’t caught up to yet — Ionian water that rivals Greece at a fraction of the price, Ottoman stone towns folded into the mountains, and a capital reinventing itself one painted building at a time.
Ferries to Corfu, hikes into the Accursed Mountains, byrek for breakfast — it rewards travelers who go slow and skip the highlight-reel itinerary.

City Overview
Tirana doesn’t try to look historic — it’s a loud, colorful, unpolished capital that’s spent the last two decades reinventing itself, from painted communist-era apartment blocks to a skyline of new towers. Most trips into Albania start and end here.

City Overview
Theth sits deep in the Albanian Alps, reachable only by a rough mountain road (or a two-day hike over from Valbonë) — a scattering of stone guesthouses, a famous \”lock-in tower\” from the old blood-feud era, and some of the best hiking in the Balkans.
Best time to visit: June–September, when the mountain roads and trails are clear

City Overview
Gjirokastër’s stone houses climb a hillside beneath an Ottoman-era hilltop castle, its cobbled streets earning it the nickname “City of a Thousand Steps.” A UNESCO World Heritage town, and one of Albania’s best-preserved.
