Palace of Versailles day trip from Paris

Versailles

45 min · RER C

The palace Louis XIV turned into the seat of the French court. The star inside is the Hall of Mirrors: a 73-meter gallery lined with 357 mirrors, and the place where the Treaty of Versailles was signed in 1919. Outside, the huge gardens were designed by André Le Nôtre, and Marie Antoinette’s hamlet and the Petit Trianon are tucked away at the far end. Closed on Mondays. You can see a lot on your own, but on a guided tour you understand the rooms, the people and the stories behind them so much more.

Mont-Saint-Michel abbey in Normandy

Mont-Saint-Michel

~4 hrs each way

The island abbey in Normandy and one of France’s most famous sights. On your own, take a train from Paris Montparnasse to Rennes, then a bus to the island: about 4 hours each way. It is a very long day, so I recommend booking a tour that handles the transport. You will find it below.

Disneyland Paris day trip

Disneyland Paris

40 min · RER A

The theme park is an easy day out. On your own, take the RER A to Marne-la-Vallée–Chessy, about 40 minutes, and the station is at the park entrance. Booking your tickets or a tour in advance is easier, and you can find them below.

Before you go

Navigo Easy card: €2 · RER B airport ticket: €14

Buy the Navigo Easy card at the airport and load the airport ticket on it. Then take the RER B. It drops you at three useful stations, so pick the one closest to your stay.
